We saw Paula Deen make fortune cookies, and I decided to give it a try for New Year’s Eve. I have never been very good at breads or baked goods, but these turned out really well — probably because this recipe took advantage of my pancake making skills.

Part of the fun was choosing the fortunes. I decided to use quotes from authors the audience would appreciate.

The key ingredient in these cookies is almond extract, and they taste wonderful. I have been wanting one since yesterday morning.
(They are all gone.) I’m going to be making Neapolitan cookies next which requires a tube of almond paste so hopefully this will do the trick!
