As Darcy alluded to in a previous post, we played cards on Christmas (which I can remember winning one game of) and I also took some pictures. I was taking pictures of the many birds outside in the backyard, but then we spotted a fox romping around. I wasn’t fast enough the first time but he came back twice. On the final time he decided to stop in the perfect spot, so I snapped some pictures. Click the picture for all of my pics.
Does that title sound like a soap opera? This is the story of our travel drama in Iowa. Here are pictures I snapped when we stopped to clear the ice off of the windshield wipers.
Below are pictures from a few days before Christmas. We were still in Rochester when these photos were taken. And on this day we wrapped gifts for family in KS, exchanged Christmas stocking with each other, and opened gifts from family in Michigan. As you can see, I’m still letting Picasa do all the work for me.
Tonight we had our first official book club meeting in the second half of ‘08. We discussed Fahrenheit 451, selected by Jim. And the next book was selected, The Prestige. Have it read by February.
Most importantly, we discovered The Guild. You can watch the first season in an hour.
It was a successful book club with books and youTube videos, as always.
It was remarkable timing. We’ve been getting snow that requires shoveling, I had just driven a 20 mile drive that took an hour, and then Kira clued us into this hilarious video. It comes at the most ideal time, when I am sick of winter weather. To the best of my knowledge, no one was hurt in video. So feel free to laugh.
I know you know the moral of this story. I may be exercising that moral tomorrow.
I should have posted this a long time ago. The main reason is that I wanted to upload this video to our server, and we have a global variable set to limit the maximum file upload size to 7 or 8 MB. It’s been so long I can’t remember exactly how big the limit was. (Someone call a programmer!) And so I have resorted to uploading this video to youTube. Sigh.
It was a glorious day in May, and we had waited a very long time for this bride and groom to leave the church. So long, in fact, that some people left and didn’t get to see them drive away. Their car was decorated with only materials that were on hand. Amazing.
In the back of the car there are aluminum cans strung together with tulle. That was my doing. The racket those cans made as the happy couple drove away was great.
There were several other worthy contributions by creative wedding attendees.
There are balloons wedged underneath the wheels. Those made a satisfying pop as they backed out!
There are neon straws sticking out of the wheels and other places on the car. I have never seen this one before.
There are dandylions sprinkled on the windshield, the greenest of all of the contributions.
Don’t forget to notice the funny messages on the windows of the car.
