I really appreciate weekends in Rochester. This is what I say after having some crazy weekends that involved some traveling and general business. It started with some hail (see Andy’s post for photos!!), but after that it was a beautiful weekend.
Saturday
Saturday morning was nice and relaxing. Saturday afternoon I got some errands done. Saturday at 4:30 we went to mass. Saturday evening Andy and I cooked. We’ve been cooking out of the Rick Bayless cookbook that Kyle and Holly Lucke gave us. We had Roadside Chicken with Roasted Tomatillo salsa. And then we had strawberry icecream. That was a fabulous meal. And we watched Hitch, which is a very funny movie (ok, Andy didn’t watch all of it). Here’s one thing I noticed about the movie, which was just on television: they cut out part of the dancing scene. That is my favorite scene in the whole movie!! I really don’t feel complete. Can borrow this movie from anyone?
Sunday
Sunday was also good. We slept in. We did a few things outside around the house. We went rollerblading/biking in Silver Lake park. And then we made yet another recipe from the Rick Bayless cookbook. Chorizo, Potato, and Mushroom tacos with watermelon for dessert. And for second dessert we went to Dairy Queen for their fabulous soft serve. I had a chocolate dipped cone, which is my favorite thing there for many years running. (My previous favorite was the cherry Mr. Misty float but I’m not sure why anymore…its like a pixie stick slush with some really good soft serve in the middle).
And in between all of that I finished The Hand of Oberon (now onto The Courts Of Chaos) and I read (and am still reading) A Scanner Darkly. I also discovered that another lily has begun to grow (go lilies! we’re now 4/7). And somehow the house ended up a little cleaner than it was the week before.
